Good morning my wonderful readers!!
I am in a fantastic mood (which could just be my post exercise chemicals: endorphins) but I have good reasons.
First, I have to currently do two sets of ten of my routine during my exercises. So this hardest one for me is the straight leg raise; lay flat on your back, bend the knee you aren’t working and slowly lift the leg you are working (while keeping the knee locked/leg straight and toes stretched/pointed towards your face) about 6-8″ from the table, then slowly lower it back down, that is one count.
I have to take a good 30 second break between sets to let me quad muscle relax (that’s the muscle above your knee). The therapist has to help me lift it and guides me as it lowers, trying to get me to help control it on the way down. Today I was able to keep it pretty controlled and the last 7 I did I was able to lift myself enough that the therapist noticed and was excited that only 6 days after surgery my leg is healing so well.
Second, my swelling has gone down quite a lot and keeps staying down for the most part (unless I’m up on my legs too much)
Lastly, the ‘boss lady’ at the physical therapy office is annoyed that I was given such a large ace bandage wrap (it’s about 6″ and I don’t know how long…. But I’m only 5’2″!) and I wasn’t given compression tights/socks. She measured me for them and put one on me. My goodness, this is so much more comfortable! Even compression without the fear of wrapping too tight! She also adjusted parts of my brace, that I didn’t know could be adjusted!!! Now it won’t slide down! It was loose in the back and I didn’t know there is a specific little flap to push to release the tension on the straps to allow them to be tightened or loosened.
We are on our way for coffee and maybe a quick bite. (I didn’t have breakfast yet and it’s 11:30!yikes)
I’ll hop by later…. Have a great day!
